PILLU: THE WARRIOR PRINCESS WHO SURVIVED VICIOUS DOGS ATTACKS LEARNS TO TRUST AGAIN AT VOSD

Today’s a big day for us. After nearly a month of routine socialising, we have finally been able to get Pillu, a mixed breed Indian dog who was terrified of people and other dogs, to interact with our team!

Pillu was born in Mumbai in September 2018, and when she was still a puppy she was dumped in a construction site. A kind dog lover found her and was shocked to see the damage this poor girl had endured – as a result of other stray dogs attacking her, her spine was damaged and she had wounds all over her body.

After helping her heal, she tried releasing Pillu on the street but since the poor dog was so scared of getting attacked again, the rescuer brought her back home. She decided to foster until Pillu could find a suitable adopter as the family already had two dogs at home and couldn’t afford to keep a third. Despite sharing posts across 50 different dog lovers and adoption groups, no one came forth to give Pillu a home.

VOSD was her last hope since this special needs dog couldn’t be left back on the streets nor did anyone show interest in adopting her. After following the surrender process, the rescuer admitted her to VOSD under the ‘Failed adoption of a pet or stray dog’ category: https://vosd.in/surrender-failed-adoption-dogs/.

Pillu was so petrified of people and her new surroundings when she arrived that she would cower and growl when we tried to go near her. But with a lot of love, patience, and care, we finally got the golden chance to earn her trust and touch her! Those untrusting eyes finally looked at us with friendship and not fear; she didn’t growl or bark but came closer as we reached out to give her pats and ear scratches.

Rehabilitating such traumatised dogs requires a lot of time and effort, but we at VOSD believe that every single dog should be given the chance to get out of its shell and live like normal happy pooches.

Please support the work we do by making a kind donation of INR 5,000 (~$68) one-time or monthly so that we can help much more neglected and abused dogs like Pillu: https://vosd.in/donation-for-dogs/
