Afghanistan is commonly referred to as the graveyard of the Empires. Last week the political winds of change ushered in the Taliban government to create The New Afghanistan Order. While the fall of Kabul is closely attributed to America's unsuccessful foreign policy of overseas nation building, the paradox of their failure is that the U.S is evidently still the foremost superpower that influences political behaviour in the global south.
This is so because hours after the fall of Kabul, the Uganda government declared her willingness to host Afghan refugees who opted to abandon The New Afghan Order. This weekend the STATE OF THE NATION Dialogue featuring Dr. Stella Nyanzi, and Julius Mitala, in conversation with Henry SSALI examines who decides which kinds of Afghan refugees will be welcomed to Uganda, whether Uganda is well equipped to offer Afghan refugees decent livelihoods, where they will live and if they are fully vaccinated?
