Australia's electoral laws set for 'significant shake-up': Credlin

Sky News host Peta Credlin says Australia's electoral laws are set for a significant shake-up.

Ms Credlin says these reforms "if passed, and that's likely because we're told they won't be opposed by Labor, they will be in place before the next federal election.

"So what's changing?

"One – pre-polling will be shortened to a maximum of twelve days before election day, down from three weeks.

"Two – new offences will be created to stop violence and harassment at polling booths.

"Three – the bar will be raised for minor parties to get registered with the Australian Electoral Commission ... if they don't have a Member of Parliament in their ranks, they'll need one and a half thousand members for registration rather than 500 as it is now."
