After the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan was established in 2021, the Taliban quickly became the most powerful extremist organization within the Middle-East. Several extremist groups, such as ISIS, immediately declared armed conflict against them in an attempt to overthrow their new regime. The NPE plans to converge strategic ambitions with the Taliban, deploying commandos abroad to discuss diplomatic treaties between the two governments. Classified intelligence suggests if the New Persian Empire (NPE) is successful they will establish military installations across Southern Afghanistan, in preparation for war against Pakistan. NATO claims the outcome of an NPE/Taliban alliance will diminish the likelihood of coalition victory in the Middle-East, especially if Afghanistan joins the State of Persia.
Operation: Forestall was derived from underground meetings held by Western leaders, consisting of cyber and economical attacks intercepting NPE/Taliban trade along with the deployment of a joint special operations group for preempting strikes. Task Force Aegis was risen to undertake the high-risk combat missions involved, comprised of Pakistani, Saudi Arabian, and American special operators.
The 75th Ranger Regiment of the United States Army is entrusted with direct action and raid-based assignments; being the first conventional American force to engage in the “Reunification War”. Alpha Company of 2nd Battalion was deployed to raid a small cluster of villages in South-Western Afghanistan, under the callsign “Darkstride”. Darkstride is to locate and capture any physical evidence regarding the UNs suspected ties between the Taliban and NPE. Forestall is a vital opportunity for the US to redeem its credibility within the Middle East and show near-peer adversaries that they are still capable of black operations. The United States hopes the success of Operation: Forestall will be a statement to the Chinese government to steer clear of their attempts to establish lithium production companies in Afghanistan. The UN is hopeful that China’s support for the NPE will dwindle as the Persian government slowly collapses due to Western interventions.
