Points to Check for a Good Cut with KATANA swords #Shorts

We commonly cut rolled up tatami mats to train katana skills and you might have seen people cutting them before. However with a katana that is sharp enough, just getting a cut is not difficult at all and even a beginner can easily succeed.

So these are some points you can look out for to see if the cut was actually good or not, and check the level of the swordsman.

1. Whether the remaining mat is up straight or not

If the cut was smooth and straight, the mat that’s left should not be bent but pointing straight up.

2. Where the cut mat fell

With a fine cut, the cut mat will fall near the stand, and not fly too far away.

3. How clean the cross section of the mat is

If the cut is rough, the cross section of the mat will be jagged and crooked.

However there are moves where you cut from down up or horizontally, so not all of these points apply for every move.
