Why is World Heart Day Commemorated? | Dr. M. Asad Ali Saleem Explains Heart Disease

Every year on September 29th, World Heart Day is commemorated. Its goal is to raise awareness of heart disease and the other health concerns that come with it.

The day is observed to encourage various preventative measures and lifestyle modifications in order to avoid cardiovascular illnesses such as heart attacks, strokes, heart failure, and other conditions associated with them. Every year, more than 17 million individuals die as a result of heart disease. This is higher than the number of individuals who die from HIV/AIDS, malaria, and cancer combined.

Anyone who wishes to commemorate this day should do so by paying more attention to their heart health. There are several ways to do this, including engaging in physical activities, quitting smoking, and beginning to eat a nutritious diet. Have your heart, blood pressure, and cholesterol levels tested on a regular basis.
