Jackals

Jackals are not big, but they are courageous, and this jackal shows it, in this video when it doesn’t hesitate to attack a young kudu calf right in front of the entire herd. It seems like the adults want to intervene, but none of them do. Either they’re gutless, or just too afraid. However, when a hyena cones around to see what all the ruckus is about, the entire herd disperses, and the jackal can’t do anything except watch the hyena tear the young kudu to shreds. The jackal tries to sneak away with the kill, but the hyena makes sure it doesn’t, chasing the jackal away. The herd watches the hyena kill the kudu calf from a distance.

As a kind of defense against predators, gazelle babies spend the majority of their first weeks of life hiding in bushes. A nearby gang of jackals spotted the fawn and captured and ate it on this occasion. At this location, jackals are the primary predators of young fawns, and jackal hunts like this one are common. However, jackals frequently walk right past a fawn without even realizing it's there. The fawn was not so fortunate on this occasion. As soon as they can walk, young jackals are attacked by hyenas and other predators. Hyenas can outrun even mature jackals. This hyena notices helpless jackal pups, but the pups are accompanied by adults. The incoming pack is constantly on the lookout for one another. The hyena must face the wrath of the entire jackal family. Almost four months after birth, jackal pups are most vulnerable to predators.

The jackals attack from behind, as the hyenas' jaws may shatter a bowling ball. The hyena gets distracted by the pup's mother, but the hyena still grabs the pup's throat. The jackals must work quickly since a second hyena is approaching, intending to devour the youngster. The assailant is undeterred by four enraged jackals. The battered dog tries to flee, but he's far too slow. When the second hyena appears, the question is no longer whether the pup will survive, but rather who will get it. Even when four additional hyenas appear, the jackal family relationships are strong, and they will not abandon their own. The jackal family makes every effort, but the hyenas have the upper hand today.

Herons

This snake latches on to this heron, but the heron keeps pecking at the snake to try and injure it enough, so the snake lets go, but it doesn’t. However, when the heron strikes harder and bites the snake enough to have blood gushing, the snake lets go and swims away. This heron finds a snake along the way, so why not have a snack when it’s readily available. It seems like herons know what they’re doing when it comes to hunting snakes. Many birds are skilled when it comes to hunting snakes and the great blue heron is one of them. You can see this heron enjoying a snake after an easy kill.
