Trudeau “absolutely not” regretting decision to trigger an election during pandemic

Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau said on Friday that he is “absolutely not” regretting decision to call a federal election as the country battles a fourth wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, indicating the importance of the choices Canadians get to make in this election on how the country will move forward past the pandemic.

Trudeau has repeatedly pointed to the election as a necessity as the government decides how to navigate the end of the COVID-19 pandemic, stating that Canadians “should get to be very clear” about “how they want to end this pandemic.”

One day after the English-Language Leaders’ Debate, Trudeau commented on a question during the debate about Bill 21 and racism in Quebec. Trudeau said although he’s opposed to Bill 21 that bans religious symbols in federal workplaces, he found the question "suggesting Quebecers are racist" was “offensive” and “unacceptable.”
