Productivity Commission Chair Michael Brennan says he thinks some businesses will go for the “hybrid model” of both working from home and in the office.
“The question I think is what are some of those trade-offs and clearly people will be a little worried about the loss of collaboration or loss of sociability with peers,” Mr Brennan told Sky News Australia.
“And that may play a bit ultimately to career advancement as to whether you’re building your human capital as much as you could be if you’re isolated at home.”
Mr Brennan said the flexibility and no commute is the reason that employees “envision” they would like to work from home but there are worries of over-work, isolation, and the “inability to really strictly separate work and family”.
