The great joy of being able to sit, tightly packed in an underground jazz club in Harlem. Like a friend's music basement, American Union Post 398, is unassuming, and, only known to locals in Harlem. Our entry was only gained through the wonderful local, Amanda Humes and her NYC jazz tour. A night of local jamming with a hammond organ groove band. Nothing fancy here, the chef was sitting next to me out front, and she laughed at me when I asked for a menu. She gave me a sweaty, crumpled piece of paper in her pocket which had one item on it. We ended up getting midnight grits n beans elsewhere, but boy! The music and the atmosphere were one of a kind. Jam packed to the gills, what a night!
