Tough new COVID-19 restrictions for residents in Burwood, Strathfield and Bayside council areas

More Sydney suburbs are under even harsher COVID lockdown restrictions this afternoon, with Burwood, Strathfield and Bayside council areas now on the frontline of the coronavirus fight.

Residents are now subject to the same tough restrictions as high risk areas in Sydney's southwest and west.

There were 345 new infections overnight, and two deaths.
