Teen Arrested for Faking Burglary Call for TikTok Video (Augusta, Ga)

An Augusta teen called the cops Aug. 15 to report a burglary and later confessed to faking the call for a TikTok video, according to a sheriff’s report.
Latajana Davis, 19, ended up in handcuffs on a charge of false report of a crime.
It all started on that Sunday morning when deputies Joshua Hudson and Stephen Harden were dispatched to a burglary in process at Campus Side Apartments on Wrightsboro Road. It was 8:55 a.m.
The teen called 911 and then told responding officers that someone had entered her apartment. She said she heard someone walking around and turning the water faucet on and off, a report says.
The officers carefully searched the apartment but found no one. When officers asked Davis for her identification to fill out a report, she suddenly blurted out her confession.
“Can I be honest? All of this was for TikTok. I do TikTok and I wanted to do a video and see how fast you all could get here,” she said. “I’m sorry.”
That’s when deputies handcuffed her. Davis said the video was recorded for her social media page but was not yet uploaded. Her phone was taken as evidence.
TikTok is a social media platform used to make a variety of short-form videos, like dance, comedy and education, that have a duration from 15 seconds to three minutes.
