Trivia: Did you know that forests over ultramafic soils at Mt. Kiamo are considered rarest. Ultramafic soils contain high concentrations of metal elements. Species colonizing such ecosystem are termed "metallophytes" because these are able to accumulate heavy metals and grow normally without exhibiting phytotoxicity. Mt. Kiamo is such a wonder.

It is also where the new remarkable species of Nepenthes L. from Mindanao located. The "Nepenthes pulchra" occurs terrestrially on ultramafic soils towards the summit of Mount Kiamo, to which it is endemic.
