The role of Intensive Care Medicine in building a European Health Union

In this event, ESICM, together with the Member of the European Parliament and co-Chair of the Interest Group on Innovation in Health and Social Care, Istvan Ujhelyi, gathered Members of the European Parliament and representatives of the European Commission to discuss the need to be better prepared for future healthcare challenges in Europe.

There will also be a debate about the importance of Intensive Care Medicine in building a European Health Union. It will be a crucial moment to reflect on the barriers to the free movement of intensivists across European countries and the preparedness of the EU in addressing future cross-border healthcare threats.

The main objective of the debate is to draw attention to the need for greater support for the European Intensive Care community, as a fundamental pillar of the European Health Union and the crucial role it has to play in building the future resilience of the EU.

ESICM President Prof Cecconi will also present the key achievements of the C19_SPACE Programme, a unique initiative funded by the European Commission and the largest healthcare training ever provided in a health emergency context.

This event marks one of the first steps towards the greater cooperation we would like to achieve between the Intensive Care Community and the European Institutions, so do not miss the opportunity to join the debate and ask your questions.
