On 7/19/21 at approximately 10:05 PM, San Diego Police responded to a report of a shooting at Chicano Park. According to witnesses, family members and friends were holding a vigil for a slain 15 year teenager from last year. Details are limited at this time, but the witness stated shots rang out and a victim went down. Officers arrived on scene and were met with upset family members yelling and throwing items at them. A “Mobile Force” was activated due to the large crowd presence. Reportedly a female that threw an item at an Officer was pepper balled several times. A “disperse” order was put out so that Homicide Detectives could process the scene. The area was cleared out and no arrests were made. We will update this information with a press release later on this afternoon.
